PSCI for Auditors

What is the PSCI Audit?

Understanding site practices, to create impact at scale

The PSCI Shared Audit Program is at the heart of realizing our Members' vision for responsible value chain practices.

The PSCI Audit Protocol, Self-Assessment Questionnaire (SAQ), and supporting tools provide an industry-aligned framework for site-specific, on-site assessments of social and EHS supplier practices within the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors.

Our audit framework assesses a supplier's performance at the site level against the PSCI Principles: Ethics, Human Rights, Health & Safety, Environment, Governance, and Management Systems. The framework may also assess alignment with international standards and agreements, as well as local regulatory requirements. Audits can be EHS, Social, or combined.

Carrying out a PSCI Audit

PSCI audits are site-specific and carried out by Approved Audit Firms or qualified PSCI Member internal auditors.

The audit will typically cover a clearly defined supplier location, which could be a manufacturing, R&D, or logistics facility.

There are five steps to the PSCI audit process, you can find more detail on the PSCI Audit page.

Approved Audit Firms

To ensure quality and integrity, PSCI audits are carried out either by qualified internal auditors working at PSCI Member companies or by professional and independent third-party audit firms, approved by the PSCI.

If you are interested in becoming a PSCI approved audit firm, please refer to the New Audit Firm application Brochure for more guidance on the requirements and the process.

When working with an Auditor, we ask PSCI Members to verify that the Auditor's qualifications meet the requirements outlined in the Audit Guidance for PSCI Audits.

Why we collaborate with audits

Collectively, PSCI Member companies audit thousands of suppliers every year. By providing an industry-aligned methodology and supporting tools, we enable a credible, transparent, and consistent audit approach. The audit framework is owned by PSCI Members and, with their input, is updated on a regular cadence to reflect evolving best practices.
