The following are just a few examples of the positive things that suppliers are saying about us.
Two Patheon sites have been through a PSCI audit. The audit process included completing a PSCI Questionnaire and then a follow up on-site audit. The questionnaire was straight forward and relatively easy to complete. The audit followed the questionnaire and provided an opportunity to share documents to confirm the findings on the questionnaire, and an opportunity to explain or provide extra detail where required. Overall, our audits went well, the auditor was knowledgeable, practical, professional and understood EHS and labour principles. The auditor presented any findings at the close out of the meeting.
Since the time of the audit, we have received questionnaires from various organizations. Where feasible, we share our completed PSCI questionnaire and then try to answer any additional specific client questions that may not have been covered in the PSCI questionnaire. In most cases we are successful in having our clients accept the PSCI questionnaire. In other cases, we have had to complete the specific questionnaire. As more companies become part of PSCI, my hope is that this will improve so that the same questionnaire can be completed and accepted for multiple clients. The amount of time saved by having one format is significant on our end, it also makes it easier to keep the document updated and ready to go for the next request.
Related to client audits, we have had at least 3 audits that were avoided due to a PSCI audit already having been completed. In an additional case, an audit was still conducted, however rather than looking at our general EHS program, they did a more detailed review and discussion related to their specific project.
We have a good solid EHS program, which we are proud of, and we recognize that there are always opportunities to continuously improve our program. Input from our clients as well as PSCI are an opportunity to receive feedback to help us continuously improve. The PSCI audit covers the core components of our EHS and HR programs, there is less value in our site EHS staff continuing to demonstrate the core program to each individual client once we have successfully passed a PSCI audit, this can allow for a more focused discussion on other aspects of our program or on specific project related information. Participating in the PSCI audit program is less about avoiding an audit and much more about spending the time with our clients on more detailed discussions related to their specific projects rather than covering the core EHS program.
