About the PSCI
What is the PSCI?
A vision of excellence in safety, environmental and social outcomes
The PSCI exists to advance and embed responsible practices in pharmaceutical, life science, and healthcare supply chains.
The PSCI is a non-profit organization powered by our Members, who represent over two thirds of the pharma industry and more than $1.3 trillion revenue collectively.
Our Members, their suppliers, and approved auditors work together to uphold the PSCI Principles and collaborate through our three modes of impact: Audit, Capability, and Projects, to define standards, develop tools, and convene expertise to advance responsible supply chain practices.
The PSCI and its membership have impact by:
- Nurturing communities of subject matter experts who collectively define, advance and amplify responsible practices
- Allowing the industry to speak with one voice
- Developing resources, services, and tools to simplify and improve supply chain excellence
- Carrying out impact projects where a cross-organizational approach can be most effective
Our Principles for Responsible Supply Chain Management
PSCI Members created the PSCI Principles to articulate what the industry expects from the supply chain.
These Principles address five areas of responsible business practice: governance and management systems, ethics, human rights, health and safety, and environment.
In each area, the Principles set out the relevant practices any business operating within the pharmaceutical supply chain is expected to uphold.

Creating Impact
PSCI Members commit to supporting and incorporating the Principles into their key supplier documents and agreements. Our Maturity Model provides further detail and a pathway to improvement, meeting suppliers wherever they are. Our Learning Plans signpost relevant resources and tools to support suppliers in advancing their knowledge and practices.
Our Capability Building program delivers events and training tools, tailored to the pharmaceutical supply chain and offered free to registered suppliers. Our Shared Audit Program provides an industry-aligned framework for site-specific, on-site assessment of social and EHS supplier practices, specific to pharma, life science, and healthcare.
Through our online platform, audit findings can be shared, supporting efficiency, transparency and accelerated learning through aggregated findings which inform the Capability Building program.
Finally, where a cross-organizational approach is needed, the PSCI membership regularly carry out impact projects.
