PSCI Webinar: Guidance for Managing Effluent Averaging
Pharmaceuticals in the Environment (PiE) and Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) are receiving increasing attention from regulators, customers and the public. As expectations continue to evolve, pharmaceutical suppliers are under growing pressure to understand, assess and responsibly manage manufacturing effluents and their potential environmental impacts.
One of the key challenges is that many environmental risk assessment approaches assume emissions remain constant over time. In reality, pharmaceutical manufacturing is often batch-based, resulting in variations in active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) emissions throughout production cycles. Understanding how these fluctuations can be appropriately assessed is becoming increasingly important for suppliers seeking to strengthen their PiE and AMR management practices.
In this introductory PSCI webinar, participants will gain a practical understanding of effluent averaging and how variations in API emissions can be incorporated into environmental risk assessments. Drawing on existing regulatory approaches from the European Union and the United States, the session will translate a complex technical topic into clear concepts, practical examples and actionable insights.
Whether you are new to PiE and AMR or looking to strengthen your understanding of effluent management, this webinar will provide valuable knowledge to help support effective environmental stewardship and regulatory readiness.
