This webinar will introduce the recently launched introductory course to LCAs in the pharmaceutical sector. It will provide an overview of the training and how to access it; summarise key content of the training including the importance of LCAs in the pharmaceutical sector, the fundamentals of LCAs, the key steps to conducting an LCA, and the role of suppliers in supporting LCA.

It will also explain why it is important that suppliers complete this training before the launch of PAS 2090:2025, the global LCA standard for the pharmaceutical industry, in October.

Finally, the webinar will also provide a brief update on progress in the development of the pharmaceutical life cycle inventory (LCI) database in ecoinvent and the development of a pharma LCA tool, both of which will be accessible to suppliers and will serve to support the adoption of LCA practices across the pharmaceutical sector and supply chain. You will hear from Sustainability and LCA experts from Novartis and Sanofi.

Understanding dust hazard, assessment and control measures to enhance people and plant safety. In pharmaceutical manufacturing, dust is not just a housekeeping issue — it is a serious safety concern. Many active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and excipients are combustible when finely powdered. If these dusts accumulate or are dispersed in the air, they can pose a significant explosion hazard with serious risk to life and property. Based on of review of the health & safety findings from 180 PSCI audits in 2023, 22% findings were related to Process safety, including explosion risk.

Dust Hazard Assessment, or DHA, is a systematic approach to identifying and mitigating these risks. This webinar will help you gain a better understanding of dust hazard, assessment, and control measures to protect your people and facility from potentially catastrophic explosions and to meeting regulatory and industry safety standards.
